Nicholas Sumner photo - Steve in suit.jpgWe’re saddened to hear of the news of the passing of our dedicated community fundraiser, Steve Rogers, on Friday 4 October.

Steve founded Ferringo Fest, raising funds for the Haematology Unit at Royal Oldham Hospital and MacMillan back in 2017 after the passing of his wife Ange Rogers. Since then, he went on to raise over £80,000 to support both charities.

Ferringo Fest was born from Steve’s personal love of music, as the frontman of ‘The Steve Ferringo Band’. It became an annual music festival (which even ran online during Covid) with bands travelling across the UK to perform along with Steve’s band. The event has grown every year and for the last few years been held at Elton Vale Sports Club in Bury.

Despite the struggles Steve faced, he continued to go the extra mile for those charities close to his heart. In founding ‘Ferringo Fest’, he created an annual event that brought his local community together to enjoy live music and entertainment, all in the name of charity.

“Steve was the life and soul of the party. He threw himself into everything giving so much of his time to support the causes close to his heart, making such a profound impact on his community.

"We feel honoured to have had the opportunity to know and work with Steve over many years, he really was a wonderful man. We could all be a bit more like Steve – making stuff happen and finding the fun, even when faced with adversity.”

Our deepest condolences go out to Steve’s loved ones during this difficult time.
